What is Rentez-Vous?

Rentez-Vous is a fashion community marketplace where renters can rent clothes and accessories from owners, connecting people who have items in their wardrobe that they don’t wear enough with those who are looking for fashion on the go. Through their experiences on Rentez-Vous, owners and renters build real connections with each other and gain access to experiences beyond the clothing.

We specifically created a secure payment system to ensure that money is fully collected and safe. Once a reservation is completed, both the owner and the renter can review each other to build a reputation in the community.

How do I create an account?

How can I contact Rentez-Vous?

To get in touch with a member of our team, visit our contact page or chat directly with us through the “contact us” pop up button on the right side.

For problems with a rental, please first send a message to the owner. This is often the best way to quickly resolve problems that come up before, during, and after your rental.

For Owners

How do I list an item on Rentez-Vous?

To list an item on Rentez-Vous, select the “list” button on the homepage and wait for requests from renters. As soon as you get a request, you will receive an email notification with the renter’s suggested rental period. After this point you have 24 hours to accept or decline the request. If you accept the request, you will add your preferred meeting location.

Chat with the renter in case meeting points need to be optimized. Once you agree with the renter, the renter will enter her payment details and you will receive a meeting code via email. On the specific date, meet the renter and give her your meeting code. At the end of the rental period, meet the renter again and enter her return code to confirm you got the item back.

What items can I list?

Allowed items for rent are:

Items not allowed: shoes, swimwear and, of course, underwear!

How is the price of my item determined?

As someone who is listing an item, you will receive 15% of its purchasing price. This can go up based on the amount of time your item is being rented.

How will I be paid?

All your transactions will be tracked in “my wallet”. This is also where you will be able to update your credit card details.

I haven’t received the payment, what should I do?

You will receive your rental profit once you will enter the return code given by the renter. It will take about 2 days to get the money in your account and will then be requestable at any time. In the case you don’t receive the money after 2 days, don’t hesitate to contact us.

How do I make sure I will recover my items?

Rentez-Vous is the intermediary between you and the renter. A contract is signed between parties and a deposit is required from the renter for every transaction. In case the item is not given back or can’t be recovered from damage, we will transfer this deposit into your account.

I don’t want my item to be listed at a certain time. Is it possible to make it “unavailable”?

Of course! You can always make your item unavailable in your “My Wardrobe” section by switching its status to “unavailable”.

I am not sure that the item will be clean in the right way by the renter. What should I do?

A precise description of your cleaning conditions is critical to ensure the best understanding by the renter.The more details you give, the easier it will be for the renter to follow your instructions. It is under your responsibility to describe your cleaning conditions as precisely as possible. If you are yourself unsure about the cleaning conditions of the item, we advise that you request the dry cleaner option.

Who pays for the dry cleaner and how much is it?

The dry cleaning option is paid by the renter. However, we have exclusive partnerships with some dry cleaners to offer you the best deals. On average, the transaction is about £5 per piece for the majority of clothes, however the price can vary according to the nature of some items.

I don’t want the renter or the dry cleaner to clean the item: I would prefer to handle it myself. Is this possible?

This is definitely an option. Simply select the right option in “cleaning conditions” when listing your item.

I would like to sell my clothes. Is it possible to do it through Rentez-Vous?

Our concept is above all about renting. However, you are able to put your items for sale by ticking the box “This item is for sale” after the rental price calculator. Sales will only occur after a rental.

For Renters

How do I rent an item on Rentez-Vous?

To rent an item, simply click on its picture. Enter the dates and time you would ideally like to pick up and drop off the item and click on “rent it”. A request will be sent to the owner and you will receive an email confirmation.

On your request page, you will be able to chat with the owner for any question or meeting optimization. You will be able to meet the owner wherever you want but we strongly encourage you to meet in public places. In this way, specific meeting points will be automatically suggested to simplify the experience. The owner will enter the final details about the meeting and confirm the transaction.

At this point, you will be asked to enter your payment details. We will simply take a pre-authorization of your credit card and only £2 booking fee will be charged. Once you pre-pay the transaction, you will receive an email confirmation and the owner will receive a meeting code to transfer to you on the meeting day.

On the specific date, meet the owner at the agreed place and enter the meeting code. You will then receive your personal return code to give to the renter at the next meeting to confirm you gave the item back.

At the end of the rental period, meet the owner again to give your confirmation code and return the item. You will then be able to rate the experience.

How long is the rental period?

Currently, it is a 1-week rental period. However, we allow 3 additional days to help organize the return process.

What will happen if I am unable to give my rented item back in time?

Currently, the rental period is 1 week. However, we add 3 additional days to allow you to properly organize and give back the item to the Owner and drop it off at a dry cleaner. If for any reason you cannot meet the return deadline, please send us an email at “Contact” BEFORE the end of your rental period and we will work with the Owner to find the best solution. If the delay is too long, we will have to ask for the full deposit amount.

The item I rented got stained. Will I lose my whole deposit?

I would like to rent a piece of clothes but the owner is too far away, how can I do?

Currently, Owners and Renters need to meet to rent to each other. The offline meeting is also part of the Rentez-Vous experience. However, we do understand that you would be attracted by pieces of clothes from owners living further away! Don’t worry, we will have a delivery option soon. Watch out for this!

The item I rented got stained. Will I lose my whole deposit?

A stain can easily occur and is part of daily life! So stay calm, there is always a solution. Of course, we will not take your whole deposit. We will guide you to one of our dry cleaners (specialised in your case) and we will only take its cost out of your deposit (according to our negotiated prices). If you asked for the dry cleaning option before renting the item, you would have nothing to pay. In case of broken zips or tears, we will apply the same process with one of your specialized dry cleaners.

I have a specific piece of clothing in mind that I would like to rent! Is there an easy way to find it?

If you are looking for a specific item, simply type in the size, brand, or category you are looking for into the “Find an Item” search bar on the homepage.

I would like to rent a piece of clothes but the owner is too far away, what should I do?

Currently, Owners and Renters need to meet to rent to each other. The offline meeting is a major part of the Rentez-Vous experience. In this way, we suggest you great places where you can meet. But don’t worry, we also plan for a delivery option. Keep an eye out for this new option!

Is the dry cleaner compulsory?

The dry cleaner is an option requested by the owner when listing an item. If it has been request, you will have to go to a dry cleaner before bringing it back the item to the owner. That is why we involve 3 days beyond the rental period to allow you to properly organize.

Who pays for the dry cleaner and how much is it?

The dry cleaning is paid by the Renter. However, we have exclusive partnerships with certain dry cleaners in order to give you the best deals. On average, the transaction is about £5 per piece, however the price can vary according to the nature of the item.

Is it possible for me to use my favorite dry cleaner?

Yes, you can bring your clothes to the dry cleaner you prefer provided you keep the dry cleaner ticket and the item is under the dry-cleaned package. We simply offer you the ability to get the best deals by going to one of our partnered dry cleaners.

I rented a piece of clothing and I loved it! Is it possible to buy it?

Of course! Renting can make you want to keep an item and we would be very happy to hear this. As you see, some items would mention a “sales price”. This is the price the Owner would be ready to sell it for after a rental transaction. If there is no mention of a “sales price” for the item you would like to buy, send us an email at “Contact” before the deadline of the rental and we will take care of making a special request to the Owner.

Security

Is it safe to rent/list an item on Rentez-Vous?

We involve a security deposit for any rental transaction. When the owner lists an item, the security deposit is automatically calculated based on the purchasing price and the average time the item has been worn. Security deposits are not included in the total cost of a listing, and we do not charge service fees on security deposits.

The security deposit is stated in the product page and the renter is aware of its amount before renting an item. This amount is not directly charged to the owner. However, if the owner makes a claim on the security deposit, we mediate and collect payment from the renter, as necessary. The owner has 48 hours after the checkout date to make a claim on the security deposit.

What happens if the item I’m renting gets damaged?

A stain can easily occur and is part of daily life. If you didn’t select a dry clean option, contact us and we will guide you to one of our dry cleaners (specialized in your case). We will only charge you for the amount needed. In case of broken zips or tears, we will apply the same process. In the exceptional case of the item being too severely damaged or lost, we will collect your security deposit and will transfer it to the owner as a compensation fee.

Meeting Points

What is a meeting point?

A meeting point is a place the owner and the renter define together. Rentez-Vous also suggests some places to meet where you could also potentially try the item before renting it.

None of suggested meeting points are convenient to me. Is there any alternative?

Meeting points are only suggested to simplify your experience. You can always meet the renter or the owner at an agreed location whether it is a cafe or a tube station. We strongly advise you to always meet in a public place rather than at people’s places.

Getting Paid

How will I be paid?

All your transactions will be tracked in “My Wallet”. This is also where you will be able to update your credit card details.

What is the Rentez-Vous fee?

As an intermediary, Rentez-Vous will take 20% fee on each Peer-to-Peer transaction. A rental can result in a sale. In such a case, Rentez-Vous will take 20% fee on the final purchasing price.

Can I use the money in my Rentez-Vous account to rent other things on Rentez-Vous?

For now, your earnings on Rentez-Vous can't be used directly to rent other items. You'll first need to transfer your payout to your bank account.

Should you decide you’d like to cancel your Rentez-Vous account, go to your Account > Settings > Cancel my account. In order to reopen the account, you need to contact us.
